A massive American flag was unfurled at sunrise over the Pentagon as the nation marked 25 years since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people. The ceremony also included tributes from Gold Star families, veterans and first responders, including Arlington County firefighter Justin Tirrell, who emphasized the acts of courage and compassion shown on that day.
