Sen. John Fetterman now says the “entire Democratic Party was wrong” for trying to abolish the filibuster, a position he ran on just three years ago and one that most of his colleagues still hold. The Pennsylvania Democrat made the admission on an episode of The Katie Miller Podcast released Tuesday, calling former Sens. Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema “vindicated” for blocking the effort that their own party tried to ram through during the Biden years.
It is a striking reversal from a senator who, during his 2022 campaign, argued that Senate rules were standing in the way of the agenda voters had elected Democrats to deliver. Now, with Republicans holding the majority, Fetterman sees the 60-vote threshold differently.
