    The family of Army Sgt. Angel Sarah Rampersad, killed in an Iranian missile attack in Jordan, blocked New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani from delivering remarks at her funeral, choosing to avoid what one source called “political distractions.”

    Hundreds of mourners packed Calvary Assembly of God church in Ozone Park, Queens, on Friday to say goodbye to the 28-year-old soldier who grew up in the neighborhood. Gov. Kathy Hochul spoke. Queens Borough President Donovan Richards spoke. State Sen. Joseph Addabbo Jr. spoke. Even the president of the local block association, Sam Esposito, was called to the microphone. The mayor of New York City sat in the fourth row, scrolling through remarks on his iPad, and waited for a call that never came.
