We now have 7,000 people nationwide who have acquired the food-borne illness, Cyclosporiasis. It’s in 34 states. NBC says it is caused by an intestinal parasite that might come from green produce (lettuce, basil, raspberries) or contaminated water. Victims get explosive diarrhea for weeks. They can also experience stomach cramps, fatigue, and loss of appetite.
The Washington Post reports that Taco Bell is under investigation as one possible source.
