The Department of Homeland Security said Friday that its Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers deported several illegal migrants last week who have been convicted of heinous crimes, including murder and sexual assault. The department released its latest roundup that included the deportations of illegal migrants from Chile, Guatemala, India and Mexico, according to a news release first shared with Just The News.
“Every day, the brave men and women of ICE work tirelessly to arrest and remove dangerous illegal aliens from our country,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a statement. “Just last week, we deported killers, drunk drivers, sexual assailants, and weapons traffickers. With deportations up, it’s no wonder that crime rates have fallen to historic lows across the country. Thanks to the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, we are making America safe again.”
The deportations include Guatemalan Ramon Gregorio Herrera-Ruiz, who has been convicted of homicide, three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a license. He was also arrested for public order crimes and obstructing police.
Two illegal migrants from Mexico were also deported, including Jorge Martinez-Guerrero, who was convicted of homicide and illegal re-entry.
An illegal migrant from India, Jashandeep Singh, was deported last week and was previously convicted of sexually-motivated coercion involving force, burglary and theft.
Chilean illegal migrant Williams Alejandro Cortes Contreras was deported and has been convicted of first-degree residential burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime, the DHS said.
The round-up comes as President Donald Trump has aimed to deport as many as 22 million illegal migrants. As of late June, the administration had deported nearly 1 million illegal migrants and tracked roughly 2 million more self-deportations.
