The Justice Department on Monday announced charges against 63 individuals, including four illegal immigrants, related to illegal voting, fraudulent voter registration, and related election crimes. The cases were located in 15 states and involve voting by noncitizens in federal elections, false claims of U.S. citizenship to register to vote or to vote, and the fraudulent submission of a voter registration application in another state.
The states where the alleged crimes were committed include Georgia, Texas, Maryland, North Carolina and California.
“These foreign nationals allegedly took advantage of the trust of the American people and flouted the laws that govern our nation’s elections. This Department of Justice will continue investigating and prosecuting voter fraud to restore confidence in our electoral system,” Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement.
Since the beginning of the second Trump administration, the DOJ has charged 239 people with voting fraud-related offenses including 195 illegal immigrants across 25 states.
