Cea Weaver has made waves since her appointment from Zohran Mamdani as his “tenants advocate,” part of the Democratic Socialist’s effort to curtail private property rights and organize renters for political power. Weaver’s past remarks about home ownership have emerged, including a claim that white people who own homes are racist. As it turns out, however, her parents own a home in a gentrifying section of Nashville worth well over a million dollars, which makes Weaver look either hypocritical or rebelling against her parents.
