    Cranford, NJ man arrested after singing Morrissey, refusing to leave podium at township meeting

    A 52-year-old Cranford, New Jersey resident faces four criminal charges, including third-degree aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, after he refused to leave the podium at a township committee meeting Tuesday night, played a Morrissey song over the loudspeaker, sang along, and allegedly caused an officer to sustain a knee injury during his removal.

    William Thilly, a failed township committee candidate with a documented history of disrupting Cranford public meetings, was also charged with resisting arrest, disrupting a meeting, and obstructing the administration of law, the New York Post reported. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Union County Superior Court.
