A federal judge has temporarily blocked the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) from ending federal funding for Los Angeles’s homeless services programs, instructing all parties to meet in court for a status conference on Oct. 27.
The court’s preliminary injunction, which will be valid until late October, has ordered HUD to distribute around $241 million that Congress had earmarked for Los Angeles, preserve Los Angeles as a collaborative applicant, sign previously approved agreements, and adhere to grant funding distribution timelines set by Congress.
