    Construction on a border security measures in Texas national park halted, Rodney Scott says

    Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Rodney Scott said he would stop construction on a border barrier in Texas’ Big Bend National Park following bipartisan pushback. In a post on X on Monday, Scott said that he was heading to the park, where he’ll talk to law enforcement, do a “personal evaluation” and “talk to some stakeholders.” 
    “CBP is firmly committed to protecting America, and that includes our national treasures like Big Bend National Park (BBNP). We know the current and predictable national security threats, and they are real,” Scott said. 
    The agency had originally planned a 30-foot-high wall in the park, which shares a border with Mexico, but it scrapped those plans in favor of “limited” vehicle barriers with detection technology, The Hill reported. 
    The new plans, however, were also met with bipartisan pushback over concerns about impacts on tourism and local flora and fauna.
