Former FBI Director James Comey is expected to surrender voluntarily Wednesday, following a grand jury indictment Tuesday related to alleged threats against Donald Trump.According to ABC News, Comey will self-surrender in the Eastern District of Virginia.
A North Carolina grand jury indicted Comey on two federal crimes related to an alleged threat he made against President Donald Trump on social media last year.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said Comey faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the two federal charges. He has been charged with making a threat against the president and transmitting a threat in interstate commerce – in connection to him arranging shells on a North Carolina beach to write the message “8645,” which is largely translated to mean get rid of the country’s 45th president, Donald Trump, then post a picture of the shells.
