Global coal demand rose to an all-time high in 2025, reaching 8.85 billion metric tons, according to a report from the IEA cited by the Kobeissi Letter [1]. The surge is driven by rising electricity demand and supply disruptions, particularly in Asia and parts of Europe, officials said.
