    A case-control study tracking 600 women recently diagnosed with breast cancer against 600 healthy women found that those consuming the most carotenoid-rich foods carried up to a 75% lower risk of the disease compared to those eating the least, according to the report.

    Researchers compared years of dietary habits between two groups using a detailed food frequency questionnaire, according to the article. Carrots, sweet potatoes, and red peppers led the list of foods driving the pattern.
