When Amazon gobbled up MGM, there were no objections from California legislators and certainly no massive lawsuit led by Attorney General Rob Bonta, (who may or may not have blackmail material out there in the hands of the Duong family) and had Netflix succeeded in gobbling up WB, there likewise would have been no problems. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings is a donor in good standing with Gov. Gavin Newsom and the political elites. His wife Patty Quillin has funded many of the pro-crime policy campaigns that have made LA and California unlivable.
But the Ellisons jumped into Paramount and then set out to unify Paramount with WB. Both are storied old Hollywood names that barely serve as a blip on the radar compared to dot com monsters like Netflix, that spends $17 billion on content, most of it woke, or Amazon.
