Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche plans to meet with some of the late Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking victims after Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., pressed him on the DOJ’s handling of the Epstein files.The Hill reported Blanche’s plans, citing a Justice Department source “familiar with this meeting.”
The issue has been a sore spot for the Trump administration since then-Attorney General Pam Bondi staged a botched PR stunt in 2025, in which she promised sensational revelations about the case, but ultimately distributed binders of largely public information to a group of influencers. Congress later approved legislation forcing the DOJ to release its files on the matter. The DOJ complied, but faced scrutiny over the slow rollout and dubious redactions.
Tillis previously stated that he would not support Blanche unless he agreed to meet with Epstein survivors. Blanche, for his part, indicated a willingness to do so, but that he would need counsel present for a meeting of that nature.
Tillis is one of many Republicans on the relevant committee handling Blanche’s nomination, but his opposition could single-handedly end his bid to hold the AG roll in a permanent capacity.
