    Almost all donations from NIH employees go to Democrats: analysis

    Nearly all donations from employees at the National Institutes of Health went to Democratic candidates or Democrat-aligned political action committees, according to an analysis by the College Fix. The College Fix reviewed nearly 5,500 donations totaling around $320,000 in the Federal Election Commission database from 2023 through mid-August 2026, which covers about two election cycles. 
    During the 2023-24 election cycle, 96% went to Democratic candidates or aligned groups. Only 3.5% went to Republicans or their aligned groups, according to the analysis. About 0.5% went to groups without a clear ideological leaning. 
    For the current midterm cycle, 99% of all donations went to Democrats, and less than 0.3% went to Republicans, the analysis found. 
    The College Fix designated the party of political action committee Democrat or Republican if more than 75% of its contributions went to one party.
