An Air Canada regional flight carrying 61 passengers made an emergency landing at Boston Logan International Airport on Wednesday after the captain suffered a medical episode and had to be removed from the cockpit, with the first officer taking sole control of the aircraft and diverting from the planned route to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The incident aboard Flight 7664, a twin-turboprop de Havilland Dash 8-400 operated by PAL Airlines on behalf of Air Canada, unfolded roughly one hour after the plane departed Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. The first officer initiated the diversion at 1:37 p.m. and brought the aircraft down safely at Logan by approximately 2 p.m.
