One of the cornerstones of Mamdani’s successful campaign was the promise to increase taxes on the state’s rich to fund social projects that he believes will turn the city into a progressive utopia. Speaking to Kristin Welker on Meet the Press, he explained that the pied-à-terre tax is a revenue stream that has not yet been successful in the state, but he’s hoping that will change under his leadership.
