Border Czar Tom Homan this week blamed a fatal altercation between an anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) demonstrator and federal agents in Minneapolis, Minn., on “hateful rhetoric” toward federal agents.Renee Good was fatally shot on Wednesday after obstructing ICE agents with her vehicle. One agent fired into the vehicle as she attempted to drive away, though video footage shows the officer in her path. The Department of Homeland Security has stated that the agent acted in self-defense.
“The incident in Minneapolis today is yet another tragic example of the results of the hateful rhetoric and violent attacks against the men and women of ICE and BP,” Homan posted on X. “These brave men and women are forced to conduct law enforcement operations in heightened threat environments every day. Like all Americans, our officers have a right to self defense.”
Minnesota officials have condemned the agent and the city is on edge in anticipation of possible riots and a surge in federal troops.
