President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced that he had created the framework of an agreement to acquire Greenland after speaking with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.”Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations.”
Trump previously stated that he would sanction countries that sent troops to Greenland at the invitation of Denmark for military exercises, though he indicated he would not take such action in light of the framework.
