Danise Baird, wife of U.S. Rep. Jim Baird (R-IN), died from complications of injuries sustained in a January 5, 2026, hit-and-run crash while the couple drove back to Washington, D.C. The pair had been married 59 years, and met as high school sweethearts who now have three children.
Rep. Baird, 80, was briefly hospitalized and released. Unfortunately, Danise suffered nearly 15 bone fractures and faced a long recovery before passing. The congressman’s office announced her death on X, describing her as the family foundation centered on faith, family, and service.
