The White House announced Wednesday that Vice President JD Vance will travel to Minnesota this week to deliver remarks aimed at restoring law and order amid heavy protests against federal immigration operations. The trip comes shortly after Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz invited President Donald Trump to visit the state to help decrease tension in Minneapolis over recent shootings involving federal immigration officers.
The White House said the trip to Minneapolis will take place on Thursday.
“The Vice President will hold a roundtable with local leaders and community members and will deliver remarks focused on restoring law and order in Minnesota,” the White House said in a news release.
Vance will be the latest Trump administration official to visit the city since the fatal shooting of Renee Good. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino also visited the city earlier this month.
