President Donald Trump will head to North Carolina on Friday, according to former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley.”I’m excited to welcome President [Trump] to Rocky Mount this Friday,” Whatley posted on X. “Let’s give him the North Carolina welcome he deserves.”
The former RNC chair is currently running for one of the Old North State’s Senate seats, to replace the retiring Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C. Whatley previously headed the state Republican Party.
He is expected to face former Gov. Roy Cooper, D-N.C., in what is expected to be one of the most competitive Senate races of the 2026 cycle.
