President Donald Trump plans to support a plan to end the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown by passing a bill to fund everything except Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which would then receive funding through a reconciliation package.”Conversations are still ongoing, but at this point this seems to be an acceptable solution,” a White House official told NewsNation.
The reconciliation package would include ICE funding, but also include parts of the SAVE America Act, a voter ID bill that has languished in the upper chamber due to the filibuster.
The shutdown has lasted for more than one month and led to significant delays at airports due to the lack of TSA funding.
