Trump to send Congress his budget request for fiscal 2027 on April 3: Report

President Donald Trump is expected to send Congress his official budget request for fiscal 2027 next week, a White House budget office spokesperson told Politico on Friday.The president was expected to send the request  – which serves as a guideline for Congress to pass its 2027 funding bills – in February. But Congress has until Sept. 30 to pass its 12 appropriation bills or face a government shutdown.
The White House spokesperson did not indicate whether the president intends to submit a supplementary Defense funding request when he sends the budget proposal, but said the White House is reviewing the Pentagon’s call for a $200 billion funding boost amid conflict in the Middle East.
Trump has already called for Congress to boost Defense spending next year to $1.5 trillion, which would be $500 billion more than fiscal 2026, stating it would allow the U.S. to build its “dream military” and help keep the country safe.
The budget request comes amid a partisan congressional spending and policy dispute that has cut off Department of Homeland Security funding. The Senate this week approved a bill that would fund much of the department but not its Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, whose aggressive removal of illegal migrants is at the center of the dispute.
