President Donald Trump announced Wednesday night that he has directed all federal law enforcement to be at “TODAY” show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie’s family’s disposal as authorities continue searching for the co-host’s missing mother. Nancy Guthrie has been officially missing since Sunday, though she was last seen Saturday night, and authorities believe she was kidnapped or taken from her home against her will. No suspects in the case have been named.
Trump said that he spoke with Savannah Guthrie and is committed to deploying resources to find the 83-year-old.
“I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing all federal law enforcement to be at the family’s, and Local Law Enforcement’s, complete disposal, immediately,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely. The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family.”
The comment comes shortly after the Guthrie family broke their silence regarding reports of ransom notes related to the disappearance. TMZ reported Tuesday that it received an unverified ransom note, which demanded a “substantial amount” of Bitcoin cryptocurrency for her return.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said its next press briefing in the case is scheduled for Thursday, at 1 p.m. Eastern.
