Trump fumes over ‘fake polls’, adds Siena poll to NYT lawsuit

President Donald Trump on Thursday fumed over what he called “fake” polls showing him with low approval ratings, despite traditional metrics showing a strong economy.”Something has to be done about Fake Polls! They are truly OUT OF CONTROL. We have the Greatest Economy in the History of our Country, we have the Strongest Border in History, nobody has ever done a job like I have done, and they have me in the low 40s,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “The Democrats destroyed Healthcare, I’m trying to fix it, and they give me FAKE low numbers. Fake Polls on the Economy, on the Border, on just about everything, are ridiculous and dangerous. The REAL Polls have been GREAT, but they refuse to print them.”
Trump specifically addressed the New York Times/Siena College poll, which is traditionally regarded as a left-leaning operation, saying it is “always tremendously negative to me.” He further indicated plans to add the polling operation to his ongoing lawsuit against the New York Times.
The latest NYT/Siena college poll assigned Trump a 40% approval rating and 56% disapproval rating. Those figures aren’t terribly different from the RealClearPolitics polling average, which currently assigns Trump a 42.5% favorable rating and 54.9% unfavorability rating.
