Trump announces he is pulling National Guard troops from 3 Democratic-run cities after court rulings

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he is withdrawing National Guard troops from Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland after a series of court orders, despite the deployments’ reported successes. The Trump administration has deployed National Guard troops in several large cities this year, including New Orleans and Washington, D.C., in order to help combat high crime rates and protect federal properties. 
The decision to pull forces from Chicago comes after the Supreme Court last week declined to approve the Trump administration’s emergency request to allow troops to be deployed in the Windy City.
“We are removing the National Guard from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland, despite the fact that CRIME has been greatly reduced by having these great Patriots in those cities, and ONLY by that fact,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Portland, Los Angeles, and Chicago were GONE if it weren’t for the Federal Government stepping in. 
“We will come back, perhaps in a much different and stronger form, when crime begins to soar again,” he continued. “[It’s] only a question of time! It is hard to believe that these Democrat Mayors and Governors, all of whom are greatly incompetent, would want us to leave, especially considering the great progress that has been made.”
Other judges have repeatedly blocked the Trump administration from deploying National Guard troops in Los Angeles and Portland. National Guard troops are normally under the state governor’s control but can be federalized in certain situations.
