A brand new rule set to go into effect could ultimately strip up to 200,000 illegal alien truck drivers of their commercial driver’s licenses, also known as CDLs. The regulations prohibit the vast majority of immigrants from being able to hold one of these licenses, unless they are in the country on an H-2A (temporary agricultural workers), H-2B (temporary nonagricultural workers) or E-2 (treaty investors) visa.
It also slaps a ban on asylum-seekers, along with immigrants with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or Protected Status, from obtaining a CDL. Litigation to block the policy is currently ongoing. Drivers will lose their CDLs as they expire, so until that time, they continue to have the certification needed to drive trucks on the open roads of America.
