U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has defended President Trump’s initiative to acquire Greenland and, if necessary, to impose tariffs on European nations that oppose the move.
In an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Bessent said that the president’s goal in purchasing Greenland from Denmark is to avoid a future national emergency and to prevent future conflict.
