WASHINGTON (CN) — The Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday needled the latest batch of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees, including one candidate for a federal judgeship who faced tough questions about statements he made as an ordained elder in a Presbyterian church.
It’s been roughly a month since the panel’s last hearing with Trump administration court nominees, as the White House has been sluggish to fill existing vacancies. But in a return to form, lawmakers from both sides of the aisle offered tough questions for a group of would-be federal judges in Missouri, Tennessee and Indiana, as well as a nominee to replace a recently departed Justice Department official.
