Senate confirms Jared Isaacman as NASA administrator

The Senate confirmed Jared Isaacman on Wednesday to be NASA’s new administrator, marking a major achievement for President Donald Trump who nominated the billionaire for the role twice.Trump first nominated Isaacman, who is an ally of SpaceX founder Elon Musk, for the post last year. But he withdrew the nomination in May and placed Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy in the post on a temporary basis.
The president nominated Isaacman a second time last month, despite his lack of experience in the federal government. Isaacman is a tech entrepreneur who led the credit card payment processing company Shift4 and helped fund Musk’s Polaris Project.
The Senate confirmed Isaacman for the post in a bipartisan 67-30 split. 
“Congratulations to Jared Isaacman on his confirmation as NASA Administrator,” Duffy posted on X from his NASA account. “It’s been an honor to help drive [President Trump’s] vision for American leadership in space. I wish Jared success as he begins his tenure and leads NASA as we go back to the Moon in 2028 and beat China.”
