MANHATTAN (CN) — The daughter of a sanctioned Russian billionaire asked a federal appeals court panel on Wednesday to greenlight her subpoenas of Caribbean government officials to regain a 267-foot superyacht previously owned by her Kremlin-linked father.
Andrey Guryev, founder of the fertilizer company PhosAgro, one of the world’s largest producers of phosphate-based fertilizers, was the owner of superyacht Alfa Nero — until it was seized by the government of Antigua and Barbuda pursuant to sanctions against Russia after the breakout of war in Ukraine in February 2022.
