Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday announced the imposition of a visa bond requirement up to $15,000 for applicants from a wide range of countries.”The law gives us the RIGHT, and in fact I would argue the obligation, to remove people like that from our country. And we’re going to continue to do it. I mean, it’s as simple as that!” he told reporters.
The bond will take effect on April 2 and affect applicants from Cambodia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Grenada, Lesotho, Mauritius, Mongolia, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Papua New Guinea, Seychelles, and Tunisia, the Associated Press reported.
The imposition of the fee on the latest 12 means that a total of 50 countries are now subject to the visa bond requirement. The current list includes much of Africa, South Asia, the Caribbean, and Central Asia.
