    After a dramatic winter storm dumped over a foot of snow, New York City residents face uncollected trash piles, some towering higher than cars, amid delayed sanitation services prioritizing snow removal. For example, some Upper East Side locals report rat-infested garbage, embarrassing conditions for visitors, and disgust at the “gross” buildup over a week or more.

    Notably, famous actor Michael Rapaport highlighted cars buried in filthy snow. The Department of Sanitation urged patience, noting limited collections focus on trash/compost while running hundreds of trucks alongside snow ops.
