Posting on Truth Social about his plans for the 2026 midterms, regardless of whether the do-nothing Congress gets on board or not, President Donald Trump announced that there will be Voter ID requirements forthe 2026 elections, even if Congress can’t manage to pass the SAVE Act over Democrat objections.
As background, the SAVE Act would require prospective voters to show both photo ID and proof of citizenship to vote, which Democrats have totally freaked out about. Right now, it looks like 50 Republicans will back the measure, which means that it will pass if they can get over the filibuster. However, as that is not assured, Trump took to Truth Social to raise the stakes.
