PARIS (CN) — The former assistant and chief of staff of the extreme-right National Rally leader Marine Le Pen skirted questions Tuesday morning in a Paris courtroom about her role as an EU parliamentary assistant between 2010 and 2016.
Under her contract, Catherine Griset was required to live and work in Brussels. But investigators found that despite being on the EU’s payroll for six years, she spent very little time there — one year, they pointed out, Griset was in Brussels for roughly 12 hours. In contrast, one June, she spent 21 days at the headquarters of the National Rally, known as the RN, in Paris.
