Obama Center criticized for requiring ID for discount entry while Democrats oppose ID-free voting

Texas GOP Rep. Brandon Gill said that Democrats want non-citizens to vote in elections, which is why they oppose voter ID, despite the Obama Presidential Center requiring ID for Illinois residents to receive discounted entry.The Obama Presidential Center requires Illinois residents to show a valid ID to receive free admission on certain days, despite Democratic opposition to voter ID laws, Fox News reported Monday.
The website states that Illinois residents “must be able to provide proof of residency. Be prepared to show proof of residency at the Museum with a valid photo ID, Illinois driver’s license, state ID, or city-issued ID.”
Also, there are reported restrictions regarding early ticket giveaways, including that some promotions are limited to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.
Museum tickets will go on sale April 21 for “Founding Members,” with general public sales beginning May 6. Timed-entry tickets can be reserved for dates between June 19 and November 30.
Admission is $30 for adults and $23 for children ages 3 to 11, with discounted rates for Illinois residents who provide proof of residency. Children 2 and under enter the museum for free, and Illinois residents will be eligible for free admission on Tuesdays.
Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany asked Gill last week on Fox News, “Why do we have stricter standards for the Obama Library than for voting?”
Gill responded:  “Because Democrats would like to allow non-citizens to vote in American elections. That’s a core part of their long-term political strategy, is flooding the country with illegal aliens, trying to give them amnesty so they can vote for Democrats, and in the meantime, having open election systems and trying to get these illegals to vote for Democrats as much as they possibly can.”
The Obama Foundation drew backlash earlier this year after seeking 75 to 100 unpaid volunteers, called “ambassadors,” to help operate the center, while top executives collect substantial salaries. According to federal filings, CEO Valerie Jarrett has earned roughly $740,000 annually in recent years, while overall compensation at the foundation has significantly increased.
The Obama Foundation and the Barack Obama Presidential Library didn’t immediately respond to Fox News’ requests for comment.
