ST. PAUL, Minn. (CN) — Arguing the state is picking on a specific subset of health care providers, nursing home owners and employers asked an Eighth Circuit panel Wednesday to block a Minnesota rule requiring time-and-a-half holiday pay for employees.
While Minnesota claims the holiday pay rule, much like minimum wage, is a general labor standard that applies to a wide group of people, two nonprofit health care employer organizations argue the specific targeting of nursing homes counters that idea.
