Minnesota Democrats are in full panic mode after they were served up grand jury subpoenas as part of the Trump administration’s investigation into an alleged conspiracy to obstruct and impede federal law enforcement during ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations, saying that the justice system is being weaponized against them.
The Justice Department, along with the FBI, served the subpoenas on January 20, 2026, to six different offices, including the Governor’s Office, the Attorney General’s Office and the Minneapolis Mayor’s office. “Less than two weeks ago, federal agents shot and killed a Minnesotan in broad daylight. Now, instead of seriously investigating the killing of Renee Good, Trump is weaponizing the justice system against any leader who dares stand up to him,” Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison went on to say in a statement, later adding that his office received a subpoena for “records and documents related to my office’s work with respect to federal immigration enforcement.”
