The city of Minneapolis confirmed Wednesday night that it is looking into reports of another possible shooting that allegedly involved federal law enforcement officers, one week after an immigration agent fatally shot a protester.Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer Jonathan Ross shot Renee Good last week in Minneapolis during an altercation between Good and multiple ICE agents. Video footage from multiple angles showed Good attempt to drive away from the officers, after refusing orders to leave her vehicle, and before she rammed Ross, who fatally shot her.
Details on the latest incident were not immediately clear, but unidentified officials told CBS News that a Venezuelan migrant was shot in the leg by ICE agents in north Minneapolis after the agents were allegedly attacked with shovels.
“We are aware of reports of a shooting involving federal law enforcement in North Minneapolis,” the city posted on X. “We are working to confirm additional details.”
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche responded to the reports by blasting Minneapolis officials and Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz amid heightened tension in the city.
“ICE operates in thousands of counties without incident,” Blanche wrote on X. “Minnesota insurrection is a direct result of a FAILED governor and a TERRIBLE mayor encouraging violence against law enforcement. It’s disgusting. Walz and Frey – I’m focused on stopping YOU from your terrorism by whatever means necessary. This is not a threat. It’s a promise.”
The officials told CBS that the man who was shot is expected to be okay.
