    Mark Kelly mulls presidential run

Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., this week, indicated that he was considering a presidential campaign in 2028 amid an ongoing legal battle with the Department of War over his participation in a video urging members of the military to ignore “illegal” orders.Kelly made the remarks during an appearance on CNN, but expressed caution about the prospect, saying “I still think it needs to be the right person for the moment, and we don’t know what that moment is yet.” The 2020 Democratic primary included more than two dozen candidates, though the 2028 field will likely prove smaller.
The Arizona senator has been in headlines recently due to his lawsuit against the Department of War, challenging Secretary Pete Hegseth’s decision to downgrade his retirement status over his participation in the viral video.
Kelly, along with other Democratic veterans or former members of the intelligence community, urged American servicemembers to ignore illegal orders, without specifying anything they deemed objectionable.
Hegseth has called the video “seditious.”
