CINCINNATI (CN) — The Sixth Circuit must determine whether two Michigan ferry operators owned by the same parent company satisfy the definition of “competition” under their franchise agreements with the city, following arguments Thursday at the appeals court.
The city’s franchise agreements include a “no competition” clause that allows it to regulate fares in the absence of competition among the companies, which provide the only means of access to the island for mainlanders.
