Louisiana Treasurer John Fleming has accused Rep. Julia Letlow, R-La’s., campaign of offering him a job at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as an incentive to exit the Senate race.Fleming and Letlow are both seeking to unseat Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., in the GOP primary. Letlow has secured Trump’s endorsement, though the race is competitive for all three candidates.
Fleming, according to Politico, stated that former CDC official Ralph Abraham, a campaign staffer for Letlow, offered him the role of deputy CDC director if he stepped aside. The Letlow campaign called the accusation a “conspiracy.”
The primary is set for May 16.
