On January 7, 2026, a deadly shooting occurred in Minneapolis when Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old woman, was fatally shot by an ICE officer after accelerating her vehicle toward him. On the same day, Noem was in Brownsville, Texas, for a roundtable with local ranchers and U.S. Customs and Border Protection employees, and Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., announced plans to pursue impeachment against Noem for alleged obstruction of justice and violation of public trust.
