Karrin Taylor Robson suspends Arizona governor campaign, clearing way for Biggs

Republican Arizona attorney Karrin Taylor Robson suspended her gubernatorial campaign Thursday in a massive victory for Arizona GOP Rep. Andy Biggs, who shared an endorsement from President Donald Trump. Trump endorsed both Robson and Biggs last year, stating that both people were “fantastic candidates,” “terrific people,” and “wonderful champions,” so he could not choose. The GOP nominee is expected to face Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs in November.
Robson declared that she was dropping her bid to avoid a messy primary that could hurt the GOP heading into the general election, even as Biggs and Arizona GOP Rep. David Schweikert remain in the running for the nomination.
“We cannot afford a divisive Republican primary that drains resources and turns into months of intraparty attacks,” she said on X. “It only weakens our conservative cause and gives the left what they want: a fractured Republican Party heading into November. With so much on the line in 2026, I am not willing to contribute to that outcome.”
The attorney did not endorse a specific candidate in her announcement, but it is expected to clear the lane for Biggs, since Schweikert does not have the president’s backing.
Robson previously ran for the Republican nomination for governor in 2022 but lost the primary to Kari Lake.
The Republican primary in Arizona is scheduled for July 21, with the general election scheduled for Nov. 3.
