The latest Pentagon figures show seven deaths among U.S. military personnel since the start of the Israel-U.S. conflict with Iran, while news reports show 11 deaths among Israelis (including civilian deaths). At least 150 U.S. troops have been injured in the conflict, though only eight are seriously injured. Around 100 of the injured were treated and have already returned to duty, the Pentagon says.
The Iranians have been hit much harder, with official reports showing that at least 1,230 people killed in the country since the start of hostilities, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and many of his chief lieutenants, who were among the conflict’s first casualties. Some news reports say the actual total could be much higher.
Reports also indicate at least 486 deaths were reported in Lebanon, home to the extremist Hezbollah Iranian proxy organization. Israel widened the scope of the conflict by striking targets in Lebanon soon after initiating strikes on Iran.
At least nine countries have reported casualties since the start of the conflict on Feb. 28.
