Illinois Gov JB Pritzker (D) on Tuesday signed a bill into law expanding the state’s sanctuary policies to protect illegal immigrants from what Democrats consider the Trump administration’s “unjust enforcement” of immigration law.
HB 1312 bars immigration enforcement inside or within 1,000 feet of a courthouse building, and requires hospitals, public universities, community colleges, and day care centers to develop plans and procedures to deal with federal immigration officers who show up at their facilities.
