Hezbollah entered the Iran conflict on Sunday evening, firing rockets into northern Israel from Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that projectiles had been launched from the country, but did not specify the party responsible for the attack. The IDF intercepted at least one rocket, and allowed others to fall in open areas, the Times of Israel reported.
“It looks now that Hezbollah has now entered this war,” GB News reporter Charlie Peters said. He further pointed to reported explosions on British territory in Cyprus, suggesting the attack likely came from Lebanon.
The Shia Muslim terror group controls much of southern Lebanon and is regarded as a proxy for Iran. Though Hezbollah briefly exchanged fire with Israel in the aftermath of Oct. 7, 2023, the group has largely sat out the conflict, until now.
Hezbollah’s entry into the conflict is likely to open another front for Israel amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.
