The House of Representatives on Thursday passed legislation to revive and extend the expired ObamaCare subsidies in a bipartisan vote that saw 17 Republicans vote with all Democrats. The legislation, which comes after the Affordable Care Act subsidies expired at the end of last year, now heads to the Senate where it is not expected to pass.
The bill passed in a 230-196 split. It comes after nine centrist House Republicans joined with House Democrats Wednesday evening to advance the legislation to a floor vote.
Thursday’s vote had eight additional Republicans supporting the bill, including House Homeland Security Chair Andrew Garbarino and Ohio Rep. David Joyce, according to Politico.
